I am so tired of calling my creditors and being transferred to someone who is obviously not from America. How do I know this? Well, they may speak English, but it doesn't mean they understand my specific questions.
For example: I recently sold a home, after the buyer finally met the lender's stipulations (yes the mortgage crises is affecting real people) and closed one month after the initial closing.
However, the title company closed with a December payoff from our lender at the end of the month. Unfortunately, the paperwork didn't clear before we paid the next mortgage payment. Naturally, we were concerned about the additional interest we paid and what remainder was owed to us.
So I called our lender and spoke to someone who clearly wasn't AMERICAN and was reading from a script and while they spoke English, I could barely understand them and they clearly had no idea (context) about what I was asking.
I called again the next day just to see if I got the same answer. I did not, after repeatedly clarifying my question to yet another person who clearly was not a citizen (nor really knew why I was asking my question). In fact, this person repeatedly asked me to speak louder, indicating, IMHO, that it was a long distance call. Yes, I was happy to hear a different, more positive answer, eventually, but I was still skeptical about how valid the answer was...
The bottom line is that I am sick and tired of speaking to people I can barely understand because some companies are obviously out-sourcing American jobs, especially for important matters that involve my $$$ and credit history.
YES YES YES I know it's a global economy and I'm all for it, but I would like upfront notification on whether or not a company supports American jobs or NOT! Also, that their personnel are qualified to answer our questions.
Does such a law exist? Is there a list I can reference? If not, would anybody support a bill requiring companies to state whether or not they outsource?
