Many of us have tried over the past years to raise our voice against various problems regarding mainstream media. In recent days there are reports that Dennis Kucinich has been dis-invited to participate in a debate among Democratic presidential candidates in Nevada, after MSNBC decided to change the criteria for determining who would be allowed to participate.
We also have reports that a CNN national poll for preference among Democratic voters only included Clinton and Obama. Poll questions did not include Edwards as an option, despite the fact that on the Republican side they included four candidates and at least one who has been showing less support than Edwards.
I want to issue a challenge to the three Democrats who have been invited to participate in the Las Vegas debate: I ask each of you to take the stage for the debate, and use that opportunity to condemn these efforts of the media to limit the information and choices we have. I ask you to walk out of the debate in protest.
It would be a wonderful thing to find a leader among you willing to take the risk that such an action would involve. It would be a good thing for our country if all three of you walked out, and left MSNBC with an empty stage.
