A rainbow coalition of individuals is doing their very best to re-cast Bill and Hillary as bigots. You'd think a direct appeal from Obama to stop the crap would have some impact on these folks. But you'd be wrong.
"Bill and Hillary Clinton are bigots, sickening, selfish souls willing to tell any lie. White liberals here sound like right-wing radio hosts."
Some Obama supporters get it. Others don't. Another 'I've been betrayed' diary is on the rec list filled with more charges of racism by the vocal few who don't listen to anyone.
So, instead of citing my paper, like I should be, I'm trying to figure out why a tiny minority of Obama fans refuse to listen to pleas to end the racist crap, refuse to listen to the community, and insist, in short, on being so completely fucking selfish, stupid, destructive; and so totally fucking deaf to all appeals from their own candidate, the one they profess to adore, to just give it a rest.
Here's my answer: the vocal few don't actually care about Obama. They don't care about anyone. They have found a face for their hate and , today, that face is Hillary's.
If the Hillary-haters currently incarnated as Obama supporters persist with the racist accusations, they hand HRC the nomination.
Why, would they do that? Easy. Oodles more hate time with their most loathed candidate. No need to look for someone new to hate; and, the best part, hating a Clinton never gets old. Want something to discuss with your right-wing crank friends? Put the boot into HRC or Bill and the wingnuts will think you've finally grown a brain.
If the Hillary-haters succeed in portraying HRC as a racist and hand Obama the nomination using that tactic, HRC loyalists, activists and voters, bedrock Dems flip. Election? What election?
Again, another win for the Hillary-haters. The down side, of course, is searching out a new Clinton to hate. How about Chelsea? Naw, no need. Hate a Clinton once and you hate for a lifetime, it's a well-spring of bile that never runs dry.
How did Silly Sully put it in that email to me when Bush plowed into Iraq years ago? Oh yeah!
'I revel in your humiliation'.
My guess? The tiny minority can't wait to spit in my eye, on the way to the 'we're changing the debate' party.
Feels like old times.
