Dear Senator Obama, I have been a yellow dog Democrat all my life and I'm old. I know you're probably not ever going to see this but I just have to speak up about some of your recent statements.
When I think of Reagan I think of being a working mom and the ruling that catsup could be counted as a vegetable. I also think of Social Security and the fact that a survivor could collect benefits through college until the Reagan administration. Yeppers, he was a great president for the poor. Thanks for making sure we all remember how swell he treated us.
And lets just take a look at the party you think had so many ideas in the last 10 or 15 years. Not us, not your fellow Democrats, but the people that have brought us the worst drug bill ever, what a wonderful idea to prohibit the program from negotiating with big pharm. And that donut hole, what a terrific idea.
I really liked the idea of invading and occupying Iraq. Damn good idea.
And how about that idea of making bankruptcies harder to get? Even though 50% of all bankruptcies are caused by medical bills we want to make sure that those deadbeat sick people pay their bills. It's just not a good idea to baby the ill, they might start to depend on it.
And privatization, how can we forget that idea from the right? It really shocks me that some people won't understand that everything can earn a profit and just because it's basic like water and power doesn't mean that we should cut big business out of the money.
Boy-oh-boy those Republicans sure have had some great ideas. So many that I just thought I'd drop you a line letting you know how much I appreciate you speaking up. But frankly Barack, it's scaring me half to death. Those conservative ideas have damn near bankrupt the country.
