By now everyone has heard about the "rebate" or "stimulus" checks that President Bush has proposed to jump start the economy to keep it from sliding into recession on his "watch" the problem with it, it it's to late, for most of us we are living the recession, lost homes, high cost of gas and utilities, and food etc. My SSD check was increased 2.3% this year, the problem with that is according to the news, inflation was 4.1% for 2007. So for those of us dependent on Social Security we are behind and just getting behinder.
President Bush wants to give "stimulus checks" to taxpayers, only those people who pay in enough to get real return checks, the top side of middle class I have seen singles making 65,000 or couples making 115,000 would get 800 each or 1600 for a family. He wants them to go shopping again, not save it or pay down existing bills, but splurge and buy new stuff and to hell with us "poor people" after all we don't pay taxes.
Like most stuff President Bush does this makes no sense except to him and people like him, Dick Cheney et al. They have nearly doubled the national debt in the past 7 years and are not worried about paying for that, his tax cuts he now wants to make permanent, he ain't worried about paying off the national debt with this attitude.
He has the Army giving Iraqis money hands over fist every month to stimulate their economy, he doesn't have a income limit for them. But for Americans he is willing to deny 45 million Americans on the basis of they don't pay taxes, yet his recession is costing all of us, if we pay taxes or not that food, gas etc is not any cheaper for the disabled.
If I could I would go to work, but that is not possible and Senator Clinton has adjusted her position and is calling for "stimulus checks" for all Americans, including those of us who do not make enough money to pay taxes any longer. I paid all my taxes from age 18 until I became disabled in June 2002. There are many disabled veterans who can't work and do not pay taxes, but then again most people feel we have paid our share, we paid it in body parts.
Senator Clinton also has one of the best voting records on veterans issues during her tenure in the Senate as shown in todays VA Watchdog

I can tell by looking at their voting records who really "supports the troops" and it ain't the Republicans, and the sad part is Senator McCains is one of the "better" voting records that Republican office holders have. In other words their rhetoric does NOT match their votes when it comes to dollars for veterans and their families.
They are just like President Bush when it comes to giving away our tax dollars, just give it to the people that tend to vote Republican and to hell with the rest of them.
