OK, I'm a regular Commenter at Time's crazy MSM "blog" Swampland.
There are some battles going on there between very committed Obama supporters and uncommitted Democrats, and a slight few normally stupid threads going on between Republicans and Democrats. Not as bad as here most of the time.
Things weren't looking that dirty, until I ran across this incredible comment in a post-South Carolina Debate post by Joe Klein (below the fold)...
"The truth is there are two hundred white women sexually assaulted in America by black and Latino males for every one minority woman assaulted by whites." –Hillary Clinton, 1994

Holy Shit!
Immediately I came back with my normal request for supporting links when a partisan claims that their or an opposing candidate said something:
alexk:
Link, please.

...and then it struck me: I had some memory of somebody saying something like this...somebody, not Hillary Clinon...somebody...
So I started Googling parts of the "quote" (I'm not excited about leaving these wonderful searches in Google's cache, BTW), and--Behold!
...this quote was actually an even more grossly offensive paraphrase of a statement from David Duke!
...and so I responded as such:

alexk:
Aren't you referring to the David Duke statement?
"The truth is there are two hundred white women raped in America by a black man for every one black woman raped by whites."
David Duke quotes (American Politician and Political activist. Former Louisiana State Representative and former leader of the Ku Klux Klan in the United States. Duke is the president of the European-American Unity and Rights Organization (EURO). b.1950)
Assigning a David Duke comment to Hillary Clinton would be the most revolting act of trollery I've seen in quite a while...unless you'd like to back that quote of yours up with a link...

Folks: What have we come to?
The overwhelming majority of Commenters at Swampland are Democrats; this is no RedState.org. I am loathe to conjecture in this manner, but I just can't help thinking that this might have been a partisan Democrat.
That I can even think such a thing is a warning sign of how low we're getting, how dirty and dangerous the partisan wars have become to our movement. No, not your Movement, i.e. the candidates' campaigns, but our movement: the campaign to crash the gates of democracy and get our kind of politics installed in the halls of power. You know, so that the government works for all of us --Obama, Edwards, and Clinton supporters--Democrats again?
How the fuck are we supposed to come together after the primary if this is what some of us are willing to do? Comments popping up on MSM blogs with a David Duke quote put in the mouth of Hillary fucking Clinton? Right before South Carolina?
Republicans are rightly portrayed by McGlaughlin Group-ers as being "in chaos". The reason for this is that Republicans prize strong, macho alpha-male "leadership" above literally everything. Eventually they will forget everything they ever said about their candidates (remember McCain's fellating of W at the 2004 convention?), and remember only their new Glorious Leader. How are we going to combat them effectively if a significant segment of our voters are mislead one way or the other into believing that our candidate is a racist piece of garbage?
If this is coming out of Democrats, then this shit must stop. Now.
It must be the personal mission of every Kossack to rid our discourse of this kind of self-defeating self-swift-boating, no matter who started it, no matter how wrong the other supporters are, no matter what! We can't have come so far to end up this low. We can't hand ammunition to the party of Karl Rove. We must be better and smarter than this.
If you ever see this shit come out on the internet, email, anywhere, it is your duty as a Democrat to eradicate it, even if it's against the candidate you hate!
Make a commitment now; do the right thing.
