hillary and bill clinton, running for president of the united states
This from Maureen Dowd, sums it up:
If Bill Clinton has to trash his legacy to protect his legacy, so be it. If he has to put a dagger through the heart of hope to give Hillary hope, so be it.
Yes, so be it.
Bill and Hillary Clinton are running for President of the United States, hands down. The Clinton Twins abomindable behaviour, no-carish attitude, and straight up LIES is required at any cost to make sure Barack Obama does not receive the Democratic Nomination and to keep John Edwards where he is, in third place.
What has happened in this race is horrible to the core. We are sitting here watching, wondering, why? Well, it is easy and obvious, it is about power at any cost, doing anything to achieve it. Sad, but true.
Bill and Hillary Clinton are not new to us, in fact we are old friends. Overall, Bill Clinton was an "ok" president who relied heavily on Republican advisors to help him through rough patches while in the White House. That is a fact. Dick Morris.
Thus, bringing us some of the hardest legislation that affected and still affects Americans today. The Welfare Reform Act and NAFTA, both totally against progressive ideals and still to this day have crippled and hurt millions of Americans, those who were/are middle class and the poor.
But, why should The Clinton Twins care? They are above the fray. They will make up any excuse or lie to cover their trail on horrible legislation passed under The Clintons watch. Though Hillary Clinton touts, Marian Edleman Wright and the Children's Defense Fund, she can not tout her endorsement or the non-communication between The Clintons or Wright. Wright was vehemently against the Welfare Reform Bill, stating it would throw millions of children and families on the street, pleaded with The Clintons not to proceed, but they did anyway. See, they only care about themselves.
As indicated here:
AMY GOODMAN: Marian Wright Edelman, we just heard Hillary Rodham Clinton. She used to be the head of the board of the Children's Defense Fund, of the organization that you founded. But you were extremely critical of the Clintons. I mean, when President Clinton signed off on the, well, so-called welfare reform bill, you said, "His signature on this pernicious bill makes a mockery of his pledge not to hurt children." So what are your hopes right now for these Democrats? And what are your thoughts about Hillary Rodham Clinton?
MARIAN WRIGHT EDELMAN: Well, you know, Hillary Clinton is an old friend, but they are not friends in politics. We have to build a constituency, and you don’t -- and we profoundly disagreed with the forms of the welfare reform bill, and we said so. We were for welfare reform, I am for welfare reform, but we need good jobs, we need adequate work incentives, we need minimum wage to be decent wage and livable wage, we need healthcare, we need transportation, we need to invest preventively in all of our children to prevent them ever having to be on welfare.
For the sake of looking tough on "welfare queens," Bill and Hillary (and they were indeed a team) sacrificed the well-being of millions, forced single mothers into underpaid, underinsured work and added further strain to many families.
You must understand an Obama or even an Edwards victory will damage The Clinton Legacy. Hillary Clinton is Bill Clinton's heir apparent, and with this title, she must win at all costs. Even at the core foundation and decency of the Democratic Party.
That is what it is all about:
But for Mr. Clinton, more is at stake in 2008 than Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's political future. Mr. Obama is also a threat to Mr. Clinton's presidential legacy and to the Clinton machine's lording over the national Democratic Party.
All about Clinton power and expansion of it.
We all know that The Clintons harbor no love, nor affection for Howard Dean. We also know that The Clintons will not run a 50 State Strategy, as Obama or even Edwards will. Why? Because Hillary Clinton is not liked much outside of the Democratic Party. Why would she go to Idaho, Texas, Mississippi, The Dakotas? She won't. Thus if the nominee, we will be talking about the same old states, again, with no expansion of the Democratic Party in other states, failure to conquer any swing states, high possibility of losing ground gained in congress, leaving the south further behind, than ever, and having The Clintons in office again, producing nothing.
Now we must acknowledge that, The Clintons proved their swing state appeal by Nevada. The Clintons won the popular vote, but did not win the vote that count, the delegates. Obama carried enough of Clark County, which is Las Vegas proper, to win the delegate race. How did he? He won the rest of NEVADA. The Clintons performed horribly outside of Clark County and it reinforced many that The Clintons appeal does not reach past Democrats. But more importantly, The Clintons have no rural appeal to Independents, nor Republicans.
We, as a party, know this should be a worry, because the candidate we put up must appeal to Independents and Moderate Republicans to win the General Election in November. Simple as that. You don't win the General Election with just Democratic Voters.
We have a choice coming up on Feb 5th and beyond. That choice is for change, be it Obama or Edwards, or back to the same polarization, bickering, uncandor of The Clintons. This is what is at stake.
Uncandor. I am being nice here because The Clintons have a history of not knowing the truth, or just basically lying. Sorry, we know this about them, and they know it about themselves.
It was obviously brought to public "TV" light from the debate on Monday night. The skewing of Barack Obama's record and the repeat dog whistle politics by The Clintons and their surrogates have divided this party. Much to the fact that establishment politicians have publicly and privately chastised The Clintons. How Bill Clinton can say Obama's stance on the war is a "fairytale"? When Bill Clinton lied about being "against the war in Iraq", is unbelievable. Do we want more of this in the White House? But more importantly, do you think the rest of the country beyond the Democratic Party will vote them back in? I do not.
I remember when Bill Clinton, an unknown Governor of a small state, Arkansas, asked us, The Democrats and rest of America to believe in him and his hope for the country. We embraced him and Hillary. They gave us many ups and downs in their administration, but we stuck by them. That was 1992.
It is 2008 and we need new vision and new leadership. We do not need to revisit, nor rehash the 1990s because we saw that show.
Entitlement. That is what The Clintons believe and why angered at Obama. They believe they are entitled to this nomination as listed by Bill Clinton, below:
He said of Obama: "I hope I get a chance to vote for him some day." And that day, of course, would be after Hillary’s eight years; it’s her turn now because Bill owes her. "I think it would be just as much a change, and some people think more, to have the first woman president as to have the first African-American president," he said.
What we need to do, as a party, is move on. That means past The Clintons. Overall, as a party, they bring nothing new, nothing fresh, no new vision, but the same old divisive crap, back.
I don't know about you, but The Clinton Twins, time has passed.
