With the great news that Dave Weldon, the conservative Repuglican incumbent in FL-15 has decided to not run, I would like to suggest that we make previously declared, already running challenger, Dr. Steve Blythe a netroots favorite.
Steve's from a working class background, paid for Med school as a NHSC scholar, he is a longtime member of PNHP and support single-payer real universal health care HR-676), he's strongly pro-environment... all around good guy.
You can donate at his his ActBlue page.
The Hill reports that a former county commissioner, Nancy Higgs may enter the race next week (now that the incumbent is nor running) as the officially designated leading Democratic candidate.
I don't know anything about Ms. Higgs, and I certainly would want a well funded and electable Democrat to win this seat.
But would it not be nice to for some serious consideration to be given to the guy who was willing to run when it was still against the incumbent Dave Weldon, and not just some establishment "johnny-come-lately" jumping in once the way looks easier?
Update - I am not he, he is not me
I am Dr. Steve B, Pediatrician and Epidemiologist in New York City, and not runninf for any office.
B is actually my middle initial.
He is Dr. Steve Blythe, a family physician in Florida, not a regular here at Kos.
I have met Dr. Blythe once, at the PNHP annual meeting in Washington D.C.
We have no other relationship.
I support him as a progressive Democrat, supporter of real universal health care, single payer, such as HR-676, environmentalist, anti-Iraq war, etc.
And I like the fact that he was in the race before Weldon quit.
