Hi all. TomP here with the Friday night edition of EENR.
We've changed the schedule here a little at EENR. Your regular Friday night anchorwoman, Sarahlane, is moving to Sunday nights and Ellinorianne is moving to Friday nights. I'm filling in tonight because Ellinorianne stepped up last night to fill in. It gets complicated, but the one thing you can know for sure is that EENR will be here every night.
That's what we've been doing since April 4, 2007. (The First EENR) And that's what we plan to do for a long, long time.
I have a lot tonight. First, I have Mr. Red Jet reading the Letter from Mr. Martin Luther King, III to John Edwards to pictures selected by our own Be Inpired and Red Jet. I have John Edwards' new television and radio commercials in South Carolina, the Palmetto State. But there's much, much more. Lots of Edwards news today.
Come around after the fold for Friday night Edwards' fun.
- This video illustrates a letter sent to John Edwards by Martin L. King III, son of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

- "Grown Up," (30 seconds – television in South Carolina
SENATOR OBAMA: While I was working on those streets, you were a corporate lawyer sitting on the board of Wal-Mart.
SENATOR CLINTON: I was fighting against those ideas when you were practicing law and representing your contributor, Rezko, in his slum landlord business in inner-city Chicago.
EDWARDS: This kind of squabbling - how many children is this gonna get health care? How many people are gonna get an education from this? This is not about us personally. It is about what we are trying to do for this country.
I'm John Edwards and I approve this message.
- "What Really Matters" (60 seconds – radio ad in South Carolina

ANNOUNCER: The middle class is being squeezed. An economic crisis looms. Our nation is at war. And too many Americans have no health care.
And what do we get from two Washington politicians running for President?
Nasty squabbling and personal attacks.
It's time we had a grown up in the White House who understands us and will actually get something done for the middle class.
EDWARDS: I'm John Edwards and I approved this message because I'm proud to represent the grown up wing of the Democratic Party.
While Senator Clinton and Senator Obama seem intent on tearing each other down, I'm intent on building you up.
This campaign isn't about us personally. It's about what we're trying to do for this country.
I understand the struggles middle class families face, just like mine did right here in South Carolina.
And, as your President, I'll fight everyday to strengthen the middle class, create good paying jobs, stop unfair trade deals, and make our government work for the American people, not for a bunch of irresponsible corporations.
It's time we had a President who will stand up for the American people.

- Edwards Campaign Breaks Online Fundraising Record
As a sign of John Edwards' growing grassroots support across the country, today the Edwards campaign announced that it has raised more than $3 million online during the first 25 days of the quarter - more than it raised during the whole 4th quarter of last year.
Just yesterday, the campaign had one of its best fundraising days, taking in more than $230,000 in contributions.
The vast majority of online contributions will be doubled by federal matching funds.
"First, we want to thank everyone who has contributed," said senior advisor Joe Trippi. "More and more Americans want to get involved in our campaign because they recognize that John Edwards is the only candidate in this race with the backbone to say we are in a fight for the middle class and we can't negotiate or take money from powerful entrenched interests if we are going to have change - we have to take them on. Our campaign relies on the support of regular Americans, and with their support we can bring real change to America."
- Trippi is challenging us to help us set a new record for this campaign.
Here's the challenge: if we can raise $360,000 online by January 31 -- 6 days from now -- we will have raised more money for this campaign in one month than in any previous three month period.
That's right -- we're that close to setting this fundraising record for the campaign. Will you help us get there?

Raising $360,000 by January 31 is not only about setting a new campaign record. Most importantly, it will give us the opportunity to get into the next round of key states and buy time to broadcast spots, purchase newspaper advertisements, expand our door-to-door canvassing efforts and get phone banks up-and-running.

This campaign could not ask for more dedicated supporters. Again and again, over the past 9 months, I have challenged you to do more and to give more: volunteering, traveling, and donating. You have always come through -- and it is your generosity that has sustained John and this campaign.
I know you can help us set a new campaign record between now and January 31 -- and that will make a difference for us as we head toward the important contests on February 5.
Thank you for all you do.

- Edwards Statement On 2007 Increase In Union Membership
"I salute the courage, tenacity, and success of the men and women who have joined the labor movement in historic numbers over the past year, and in doing so, have helped strengthen the middle class in America.
I have stood on countless picket lines and in the trenches of organizing campaigns across this country with strong men and women who simply seek fair pay, decent benefits, and a voice on their jobs.
But I know too well the ongoing harassment that these Americans face for seeking unionization, and as we struggle with difficult economic times, I will fight even harder to make it easier for more workers to join unions through passage of the Employee Free Choice Act, by calling on employers to be responsible and law abiding, and by continuing to stand with workers in their campaigns."
- Edwards will have a "ticket to ride."
House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn said Friday that he expects Edwards to be important at the nominating convention because he'll have delegates in his corner.
"If he stays in the race and keeps getting 15, 20 percent, he will be a big factor in the convention because you've got to get 50 percent plus one to win," said Clyburn, a South Carolina Democrat who has not endorsed a candidate.
"If you sit down and do the math, you'll have all three of these candidates will leave South Carolina with tickets to ride," Clyburn said. "All three of them won't be in first class, but all three of them are going to leave here with tickets to ride."

- Edwards on electronic voting machines.
Edwards also said he wanted the U.S. to move away from using electronic voting machines, some of which malfunctioned in Horry County during Republican primary voting last week. Some residents used backup paper ballots and at least one precinct turned several people away when they ran out of the backups.
"I personally am very uneasy about these electronic voting machines," Edwards said. "I'd like to see America go ... to a paper ballot, so that you know when you vote, you can see in your hand who you voted for, that it was counted correctly, and that there's a paper trial."
