Here's the clip that is supposedly creating a furor that Bill Clinton 'played the race card' tonight. Watch the clip that people are crowing about....
How the hell is that playing the race card? As one of few Kossacks who isn't white and grew up in some of the less than enlightened parts of the country, I do believe I know what I'm talking about when it comes to race. Hinting that Obama won South Carolina because of his strong support in our community isn't racist. That's what Bill Clinton was doing when he pointed out that Jesse Jackson won South Carolina. How is that not consistent with reality? I don't doubt for a second that our pride in seeing a credible African American on the ballot did help turn out amazing support for Senator Obama. Is saying so bad? Is it impossible to reasonably discuss a quote where even mild racial overtones might exist? Do we have to throw out the most outlandish accusation every time?
I haven't hesitated to criticize Cuomo's 'shuck and jive' comment, Shaheen's ridiculous attempt to paint a caricature of Obama as a drub dealing black kid or other nonsense. GET A GRIP! I'M AN OBAMA SUPPORTER AND I THINK THE CHARGE THAT CLINTON PLAYED THE RACE CARD IS BASELESS.
