So I once lived in Florida. In Ft. Lauderdale and I went all my school years there.
It was during that time that I formed my Democratic beliefs and became interested in politics. I know Florida. I have all my college friends in Florida and they are also very political and involved in the Democratic Party. They are not happy having been excluded by the DNC of their delegate votes.
I am voting for Edwards when I vote. That is assuming he will still be running because I live in Pennsylvania and do not get to vote in a Primary until April 22, 2008. Yep, that is right. It will be all over but the shouting. I did not see the DNC getting upset because I do not get a fair shake at choosing a candidate.
Flip on over please.
My total complaint is that I think the entire Primary season needs to be revamped and done so in a fair and balanced manner. I think there should be a Primary Week in which every state holds their State Primary. They can choose the day but it will happen so quickly the MSM can not even have time to sip a glass of wine before heading over to another state and candidate, etc. They will be tripping over themselves and then it will be over.
I also do not like the fact that Independents can vote in either party. Why would you choose a party if you were able to manipulate an election by being GOP and voting for the candidate you would like to see lose and vice versa. We encouraged it in Michigan as we did not want McCain to get too ahead. We believe that we have a harder chance against McCain and thus help propel Romney to get ahead. Would us Democrats have done that if the Michigan delegates had been recognized? No, we would have voted for the Woman, the Black Guy, or Son of the South as said by Barack. Maybe we would have voted for Chris Dodd. I think he is pretty sharp. Maybe even Biden who really knows world stuff but lets his ego lead him into being annoying. In other words, we would not have been trying to manipulate the outcome. In fact, we could be having that right now. Who is choosing who will represent our Democratic beliefs? Why won’t Independents just choose a side or even a third side. That I would understand. They would at least be taking a stand if they wanted to have a vote in the decision of the candidates. AND, if they like a particular candidate, they can just go and switch from Independent to Party Choice rather than the other way around.
Our Primaries are not honest. They are too spread out and give too much air time to one state. The MSM allowed race not to be an issue in Iowa and New Hampshire but they did in South Carolina and let’s remember, Barack is a white/black American also. Being a woman in Iowa and New Hamphire and Nevada was a big thing and tilted it in favor for Hilary in NH. And because the MSM had designated which two candidates were the heir apparent, they threw aside our other fine candidates and we had quite a few this time. I am not pissed off that my candidate is not in the top two and writing this diary, which I rarely do, to complain about that. I like the top 2 people and have no problem with casting a vote for either.
With all this in mind, how would you feel if ‘your’ state was disqualified from getting to choose the Presidential Candidate and you had no say in that decision also? Wouldn’t that kinda piss you off? Your vote will not count. My vote in April will most likely be symbolic. I don’t understand the logic of pissing off your own party. I call it eating your own. If you are going to be so totally asinine about playing God with your own people and I was a Deaniac, then play God with trying to bring about a more fair and balance Primary Season for all of us. I want to be included. I want my vote to count.
Please remember, I will vote for the Primary winner, but I sure would like to have more say in the process. I didn't even get to vote for Howard last time out.
