Some say that General Petraeus betrayed us. Some say it's the GOP. But, they did not betray me - their actions were to be expected. So, why do I feel betrayed?
In 2006 I voted 100% Democrat straight down the line. I'm sure many here did the same. I literally jumped for joy to see both the House and the Senate change hands. But, has anything really changed?
Some say that although Democrats hold a majority in Congress, the majority isn't large enough. Bull! Democrats could have ended funding for the Iraq war a year ago by not passing any legislation. Yet, the Democrats we elected continued to fund the war with hundreds of billions more of our dollars.
Some say Democrats had no choice but to continue funding the Iraq war. They say that ending the war would have been political suicide and ruin the 2008 Presidential run for Democrats. Yet, we lost roughly 1,000 more troops in 2007. I'm not even counting the wounded. When did it become OK to sacrifice others' lives for political gain?
So, the only valid argument left is that Iraq would destabilize and fall into turmoil if we left. Yet, I see that violence dropped 90% when British troops left the second largest city in Iraq, Basra:

So, where are the facts to back up this destabilization claim? It seems that this idea of destabilization is solely designed to lull us into continuing the war. I feel betrayed. Do you?
