This is one of those "tell me something I didn't already know" diaries. But it's noteworthy in that there is now official first-hand confirmation that the United States of America under George W. Bush became a nation that tortured human beings.
It's not a confession. But you just know there are some countries who are going to accept it that way.
God help us. John Negroponte has admitted in an interview with National Journal Magazine:
"'We've taken steps to address the issue of interrogations, for instance, and waterboarding has not been used in years."
Negroponte was the first National Intel chief when Bush began to umbrella all of our intelligence under one federal banner. Remember? That's back when we started to refer to the US like we were 1940s Germany ... the fucking HOMELAND.
Yes, you knew it and I knew it. But this to me is kind of like Bush saying in a press conference that he knew full well there never were any WMDs. To me, this is huge. It's no longer an accusation. It's no longer the thing of which we shall not speak but will not deny.
It's now the truth.
Proud to be an American? Eh. Not so much.
