It seems that the primary season has brought out not only the best in each and everyone one of us, but also a bit of the worst. Although I can no way speak for everyone here, I don't believe personal attacks, hit diaries, and distorting others statements will change anyone's support for his/her candidate. This being said, we really need to remember why we really come to this site.
I think everyone here would agree that it is a stretch to think that the Democratic Party is a one size fits all type of party. Our party is composed of peoples from all ages, all races, all economic classes, all ideologies, and all types of religious or non-religious beliefs. We are men and women, straight and gay, and each and every person has our very own unique set of personal experiences. Some of us are highly educated while others may not have much education at all, but we all come to this site because we want to learn about issues that affect us. We want to learn about candidates and the politics of this nation. We come to this site to reaffirm that there are other people who also feel like us, and are also sick about how far this country has shifted to the right in the past seven years. We come to this site to celebrate the momentum of our favorite candidates and the triumphs of both liberal and progressive initiatives.
But most important, we come here to share. That's right, I said share. We share very meaningful and insightful knowledge. We share our understanding of issues and politics. We share our feelings. We sometimes share our innermost thoughts. Often with total strangers.
Why? Why do we share? We share our ideas, feelings and and knowledge with others because deep down, we believe that we are making a difference. If somehow we can get just one, just one person to care about what we care about, things will and can change for the better.
I sincerely ask each and everyone of you out there to really think about why you choose to come to this site. Write it down here. Please share!
