In the interest of a reality check below are some votes concerning Iraq made by Senators Clinton and Obama. I think there are many people on this site that have never bothered to look at the record to see if the rhetoric reflects the action. The truth turns out to be that Hillary and Barack have voted exactly the same on the issue of Iraq. Meaning that they have both voted to continue and fund the war or occupation, if you prefer, in Iraq. This brings me to the conclusion that Barack just might have voted for the same resolution Hillary voted yes on in 2002 that gave Bush the green light had he seen the same intelligence reports. That is pure speculation on my part but Barack has not been the anti-war candidate he speaks so eloquently about.
After reading this list of votes, which is not complete in the interest of space, one can hardly say there is any difference between these candidates on the issue of Iraq. In fact I doubt either of these two would get us out of Iraq any time soon were they to become president. The old 'Blood Bath' in Iraq would hang heavy on their heads. I was truly disappointed to find that Barack in contrast to his anti-war rhetoric went along with continuing the 'Status Quo'. One would have thought he would be a firebrand on the Senate floor leading the charge to end the war or occupation, if you prefer, in Iraq!
Thanks to Greg Sargent and Eric Kleefeld for compiling the list to see their more complete list of votes on Iraq click this link.
Since there is not one shred of difference between Clinton or Obama on the issues of Iraq or of holding Bush and Cheney accountable, I don't feel strongly about either of them. So on the morning of February 5th I will take my 1964 John F Kennedy Half Dollar to Union Square and under the shadow of George Washington toss it to determine for whom I will Vote! I will then apologize to George for letting our nation become a place where the Constitution is nothing more than a bubble gum wrapper.
I already voted for Hope and Change in November of 2006!
