I am not sure if we know all the implications of this Kazakhstan uranium deal detailed by the NY Times at http://www.nytimes.com/... but just playing devil's advocate, that Uranium will be mined one way or another. Are we all not better off that it will be mined by a sensible Canadian rather than an Iranian, a Saudi or a Chinese company?
I don't know that I care about the $137 million if it goes to end world hunger. It could have gone to Hezbollah or Hamas.
The NY Times is a fact vacuum, like they were during Whitewater and then they got it all wrong. They were so digital about the information, along with James Stewart, they accused Hillary of lying on her loan application by overstating the value of the Whitewater land as an asset. In their thirst for gotcha journalism they didn't realize that on the other side of the balance sheet Hillary put the liability, which was a very large mortgage. I think that entry cut the $300,000 asset to $150,000, which was what it was worth at the time.
That is journalistic incompetence because they only looked for the gotcha facts. We need to see how this unravels. I understand it was against US Policy, but what good things aren't against this Administration's foreign policy? Or maybe the State Department said no with one eye but said go ahead with the other because we need to make sure that Uranium stays in the hands of Western or European hands. Or maybe the Bush Administration wanted the deal to go to Halliburton and Clinton one upped them. If that’s the case, good for him.
If it turns out to be very bad, then I lost the last candidate I can vote for (Hillary) and I pray someone either gets back into the race or Al Gore comes to our rescue because if that doesn’t happen I will not be able to vote for either of the Democratic candidates.
I don't want to be blamed for either one of them (Hillary or Obama) like we blame everyone who voted for Bush. Our own credibility is at stake. I hate McCain's positions on abortion and Iraq but I don't hate John McCain and I believe he would get us back to a more sensible tax policy faster then Barack Obama, who I personally cannot stand.
I am waiting for that knight in shining armor to show up and take the election from Obama and the Clintons. How could we be so stupid not to see how terrific John Edwards is and how divisive Clinton and Obama are? Dkos members knew that a few months ago and allowed themselves to get swept up by the bullshit and the PR. As for Ted Kennedy, he is an old man who doesn’t want to be left out. Unbeknown to Ted, Obama has a DNR order ready to slap on his back if he gets sick.
