Remember Iowa? It seemed like another time now. Remember the furor that was caused by emails being sent by two HRC staffers. They were not authors of the email but had forwarded them. People yelled their heads off, they accused HRC of racism even after the two staffers (actually precinct staff and not campaign staff) were fired. Then there was Shaheen and his moronical statements even he was fired but still people were not happy. The final message was HRC is race-baiting and she is this horrible person....the evil witch of the east.

Then we found out that the Obama campaign was actually pushing some of these race-based talking points even to the point of taking the words of the Clintons and spinning them on their head. He was unhappy with his staffers and said so. There was a truce and things should have died down there but did it?

Today Politico reported that an anti-Hillary mail is being circulated and has even gained some foothold with the Obama campaign. I was astonished to see this. It was not an anonymous viral email but a posting on the official Obama site paid for by Barack Obama. The post has been taken down but the cache is still available here.
I post the screen shot below.

Seemingly the entire point of the post is that Hillary is actually a racist because as a schoolgirl in 1964 she was a Republican "Goldwater girl" citing a particularly trashy article by Bob Novak (seems like Novak gets a lot of play in the Obama campaign). Greg Sargent had a rebuttal to the Novak article here.
The above author also maintains a blog called Blacks4Barack where the above post is elaborated further with this really inflammatory passage:

In addition to re-inventing her past, the most obvious new Clinton strategy is to use 'token Negroes' like BET Founder Bob Johnson and Magic Johnson to name a couple, to attack and discredit Barack Obama, a tactic which many blacks find additionally offensive, calling these black Clinton cronies 'sell-outs'.

But coming back to my original point how did it get up there? Can we please have some accountability? How can someone like this man above post the contents of a viral email on the official website? Is this then the position of Barack Obama? Or is the campaign incapable of handling a website until it gets caught by an alert journalist? This, the race talking point memo, the pathetic attempt to connect Hillary to the Bhutto assassination and the D-Punjab memo, and yet no one is held accountable, no one is fired and the Obama campaign as usual gets a free pass.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
