I am a conservative. You can thank Bill O'Reilly for my presence on this website. I am sure you all vividly remember his attack on Chris Dodd for attending your debate citing some posts he perceived to be unseemly. I decided to check the website out for myself (you know, "You Decide"). Of course I did not find what I expected. For the most part I do not agree with the viewpoints voiced on this website, but I have found that the vast majority of the time your opinions are well thought out and respectful.
In large part, the debate is what has drawn me to this website. I know that I am looked at by many as a troll. Fine. If in the end those who regulate this website feel it necessary to take away my ability to share my opinions, then I guess I will just have to live with that. In the interum, I will be doing my best to formulate my comments in a respectful and thoughtful way.
Most of my posts have been to defend, or better articulate the conservative point of view as stated on this website. Better stated, my point of view as a conservative; I do not speak for all conservatives of course. In doing so, my hope is to spark thought and conversation, and also to help you all better understand the conservative POV. I believe both sides have many misconceptions of each other ranging on a wide variety of topics. I think a better way to charactarize our differences is that we generally agree what the end results should be, but disagree with the means.
For example, conservatives agree that everyone should be able to recieve proper healthcare. We don't believe however that this can be achieved by the federal government. Furthermore, attempts to achieve this end by the federal government would greatly infringe on our civil liberties.
So, all that being said, here I am in all my conservative glory. Enjoy!
