As an Obama precinct captain, I plan to print and distribute a double-sided one page flyer today and tomorrow. On one side of the flyer, I am using the standard Barack Obama on the Issues flyer from the website.
On the back, I am creating a Local FAQ to encourage and help get out the vote for Obama. In the FAQ, I've attempted to provide (local) answers to some tricky questions, such as:
What if I’ve moved and have not registered at my new address?
If you were previously registered as a Democrat or DTS voter within LA County, but have not re-registered at your new and current address, you can still vote provisionally. Simply go to the above-mentioned address, tell them that you have moved within the county and ask for a Provisional Democratic Ballot. They will later verify your previous registration and your vote will be counted.
I asked for an absentee ballot but did not receive one, can I still vote?
Yes You Can! Simply go to the above-mentioned address, tell them that you have lost or not received your absentee ballot and ask for a Provisional Democratic Ballot. They will later verify that you have not voted absentee and your vote will be counted.
Thanks to a campaign email, I was also able to remind independent voters that they need to mark a box specific to LA county:
Make sure to fill in the bubble at the top of the ballot next to "DEMOCRATIC" in the section labeled "THIS BOX FOR NONPARTISAN VOTERS ONLY Vote for One."
I am intentionally providing the DOC format so that you can edit and customize it, should you decide to do the same in your precinct. I also solicit your input and suggestions on how to improve this or any errors you may spot. I plan on heading to Kinkos in an hour or two!
