I mean, Jeebus. I can't take this crap. I endorsed Hillary and am working for her, but this crap I saw on Blue Jersey just pisses me off. Especially since one of the reasons I backed Clinton is because I was tired of Obama's criticism from the right.
But now Hillary is doing it, and on Social Security of all issues. That's the one that initially pissed a lot of folks off when Obama used the "crisis" language of the right. Well, check this piece of garbage from Hillary out:
Here's the offending, I mean really fricking offending, language:
And he wants to raise Social Security taxes by trillions.
What Obama has suggested is that we consider raising the cap on payroll taxes a little bit, which means that not one person who takes home less than about $100,000 a year will see any increase in taxes. In 2007, the richest county in the country -- Douglas County in Colorado -- had a average household income of $97,027.
So the vast majority of people will not see any increase at all. Only those of us making really good coin will see any increase at all, and even then you are talking a minimal amount each.
And any increase in taxes, which will only reach trillions over a period of decades and not a year of two, will go towards helping widows, children and the aged. That's the kind of stuff we Democrats are supposed to support, not use as boogeymen to frighten Democrats into voting our way in a primary.
Here's the translation, courtesy of the Google Political Bullshit Translator:
OBAMA IS A TAX RAISER! DIRTY TAX AND SPEND LIBERAL! HE'S GONNA TAKE YOUR MONEY BEFORE YOU EVER SEE IT! AND WASTE IT! A VOTE FOR OBAMA IS A VOTE FOR HIGH TAXES!
This is just as bad as the Harry and Louise mailer I posted about over the weekend from Obama that pissed me off so much for stealing right from Lee Atwater's 1993 anti-health care reform ads.
Seriously, what the fuck is the difference right now? Both sides will say anything and do whatever it takes, even using attacks from the right that make achieving any of their stated progressive goals all the harder.
Man, I want Edwards back. Or Gore.
Because these two just don't do it for me. And I have to vote in the morning.
Shit.
