Michael Moore was on Larry King Live last night and had this to say:
...but her votes for the war, and I don't just mean the first vote, but her continually voting for the war would make it almost morally impossible for me to vote for her. And I hate to say that, but it really is true.
This was in the context of primaries and he explicitly stated later than he would vote for her in the General. Moore also comments on healthcare mandates in the video below.
The war quote is at the 3 minute mark:
Moore goes on to point out that 100 million Americans knew the war was wrong and asks why Clinton did not. Clearly he's been trying to remain somewhat neutral in the primaries but he has the political courage to call Clinton out for her war support when prompted.
On healthcare, Moore is asked to comment on Obama's and Clinton's plans. He criticizes both for including private insurers. He also has specific doubts about Clinton's mandates.
It's mandated, and I don't think I've heard her say exactly, if you don't buy insurance, what's the punishment? Are they going to put a lien on your house? Are they gonna deduct it from your wages? How are they gonna take the money from you if you refuse to buy health insurance?
So it seems Moore is not on Krugman's Obama-bashing bandwagon. And he's clearly coming out hard against mandating private insurance. I'm curious to hear from the Krugmanites why Michael Moore is wrong on private insurance mandates.
