Wow! I had no idea that Democrats could be so contentious and mean to one another--I thought the "Democratic circular firing squad" was just a right wing myth. Alas, here we are in a close democratic race for the nominee and I've read so much hyperbole here I find myself having to hold back my retorts and focus on getting back to "rational."
I've heard women say they are going to vote for Hillary because they are women, I've heard women say they are going to vote for McCain if they don't get their woman nominee....(edited)
I would absolutely vote for Hillary if she were to become the nominee--not because of anything about "her" per se, but because I have to put my faith in the Democratic nominee, no matter whom it is.
Having said that....
Barack Obama is far from the ideal candidate, in my estimation. I would prefer a person with more experience--heck, even more LIFE experience would be preferable. I sense some shady politician moves in that Obama conveniently didn't show up for some key senate votes--and voting "present" is shady--in my book. I wish he would explain himself concerning those votes. He was elected to represent the people of Illinois; he ought to be doing that.
Nevertheless, he has done something Hillary cannot seem to do, and that is INSPIRE the PEOPLE! The PEOPLE have lost control of this bus, and Obama has given many of us HOPE that maybe we CAN become a part of the process of governance again. For too long we have watched while Reagan and Bush AND CLINTON (!!!) sold us out to corporations--we're hemorrhaging jobs, tens of millions of us are uninsured or underinsured, our food is being manipulated on a genetic level, farmers are becoming more beholden to corporations,…I don’t need to enumerate the various ways in which, WE THE PEOPLE have been LOSING in this experiment in DEMOCRACY.
To me, Barack represents a kind of hope that another Clinton simply doesn’t.
I can’t stand to think that, in the same way that Bill Clinton agreed not to investigate the shenanigans of the first Bush administration--Mrs. Clinton might forfeit her responsibility to right the wrongs that have been perpetrated by republicans all these years.
As has been pointed out, Barack Obama has the support--and MONEY from--the PEOPLE, while Clinton has (run out of) money from the very corporations that have STOLEN our country from us.
I want our country back, and Obama may be just “new” and fresh enough to “just say NO!” when those big corporations try to coerce him into giving them even MORE.
I have NO faith that Hillary wouldn’t happily keep on giving--
