Since Super Tuesday, we have heard from various media outlets, that Hillary Clinton's strategy has become to rely on wins in Ohio and Texas to prove her strength as a candidate. This is a political expectations lowering game, but her strategy may be severely doomed, and could lead to downfall.
On February 5, Obama won a good deal more states, and a few more pledged delegates, according to several media sources. However, the states he one were smaller states, and Clinton said she wasn't really trying to win these states anyway.
So, when Obama won NE, WA, and LA today, Clinton once again tried to play down the expectations for her campaign, nationally and in these states.
Clinton says that these states don't really matter. That kind of sounds like what Rudy Giuiliani said about the first four states of the primary season. He completely disregarded them, as if they didn't even count. This is almost exactly what Hillary is doing now. She made a little speech in VA, but otherwise she is saying that she didn't spend much money on these states, and that she is going to bank on Ohio and Texas, just like Rudy was banking on Florida. And while he was waiting, McCain built up momentum, and he was done. We're about to see the same thing with Hillary, when Obama wins state after state this February, and more people begin to join the movement which is Barack Obama.
Every state and every delegate counts. I acknowledge that with this being a two person race, each candidate will get press coverage, but the factor of momentum and people seeing that Obama is winning a great number of states, and my pretty substantial margins so far, February 9th Results, Clinton will begin to fade, similar to Giuiliani.
Maybe it's too early to say, but this race may be over sooner than we think.
