It is typical of American politics that one of the current Democratic
candidates, a great proponent of change, is philosophically
a great deal closer to Ronald Reagan than he is to FDR and Democratic
Ideals.
Have the Republicans and corporate leaders set him up because
they are so afraid of Hillary? His sudden invasion of National politics
with his vague rhetoric and glittering generalities have captured
large numbers of voters most of whom can only claim hope as the reason for their support. This is not enough.
He credits Ronald Reagan as the greatest transformer and instrument of change in the last century. Ronnie would have approved of most of his positions.
His economic advisors are to the right of Attila the Hun.
His health care program is non mandated, partially funded by private accounts and will never lead to universal health care.
His plan to ease the sub prime crisis is a 25% tax credit, about
$500. That will do it.
On fixing the economy he says free markets, less government intervention.
Are we seeing a pattern here?
On energy he's pro nuclear.His campaign manager,David Axelrod,was a
consultant for Excelon, the Chicago based , largest nuclear company in
America. This company tried to hide the fact that it leaked radioactive
water into ground water and drinking water wells.Abnormal levels of
pediatric cancers brought about discovery.
Is this change or just the same old politics?
There are many other issues where Obama and the Bushies seem cut from the same cloth.
In Iraq he is going to begin to bring the troops home immediately.
No experts believes this is a realitic solution to a very complex problem.
His biography provides some insight into this complex man, but even that seems to reek of revisionist history.
The speed of his ascent is troublesome.
Let's not choose another President because he would be nice to have a
beer with.
