Jon Soltz just sent out an email requesting help in stopping another Bush cronyistic maneuver. And of course it involves the Pentagon. And of course it involves our soldiers safety. Helmets, that's right helmets.
VoteVets is requesting you sign a petition requesting hearings on this. Let your voice be heard, don't let the noise of the day distract you from this important issue.
The troops need your help, and we need you to get Congress involved on their behalf.
The New York Times last week reported on the recent $74 million contract awarded to Sioux Manufacturing, to produce Kevlar helmets for our military, even as the company was being sued for providing substandard helmets in the past.
Jon goes on;
The paper reported that not only had a contract been placed by the Bush Pentagon while the company was being sued, but that the company knowingly supplied our troops with poor protection. Quoting the Times:
In a conversation Mr. Kenner secretly taped, Rhea Crane, quality assurance officer [of Sioux Manufacturing], worried "if we ever had someone get killed, and they decided to investigate because they thought maybe the helmet wasn't any good."
"If we ever got audited," she said, "you know what they would do to us. Shut us down and fine us big time. Probably never see another government contract."
Indeed, this company never should have received another government contract. Yet, the Bush Pentagon placed an order, again, with this company.
Lend your voice, sign the petition.
