Voting in the Texas primary is not enough to win delegates.
We need a massive turn out at the county conventions on March 4th to send delegates to the state convention where everything is finally decided. Here is where the machine and the movement get down to the nitty gritty of winning Texas.
It's easy, but you need to know the time and location of your county convention in order to attend. Rules below the fold.....
Here are the Rules:
You must be registered to vote in Texas. Be sure to verify your voter registration and polling place. First time voters should have a photo id.
Voting in the Democratic primary gives you the right to participate in the county convention. Each precinct selects delegates who then attend the state convention.
If you vote in the primary, but skip the convention, know that delegate selection is not required to reflect the will of the voters.
Details vary widely by county, so you should research the location and times in advance. Normally Travis County has a combined county convention, but this year it is listed as being at each individual polling place.
From the Travis County Democrats:
Anyone who votes in the March 4th Primary to include anyone that chooses to vote early (Feb 19-29) is eligible to attend their Party Precinct Convention.
You can find your precinct polling location by pasting the link below from the Travis County Elections Division into your web browser: http://www.co.travis.tx.us/...
Participation in your precinct convention is the first step in determining the make-up of the Texas Delegation to the Democratic National Convention which will be held in Denver this August. The Travis County Democratic Convention will be held Saturday, March 29 and the Texas State Convention will be held June 6-7. For further details, check these respective dates on our calendar.
Funny thing, the Texas Democrats don't have ANY event listed for March 4th....
