WASHINGTON (Feb. 15)-- House Republicans walked off the job yesterday, vowing a prolonged strike until Democrats were finished voting on contempt-of-Congress charges against Bush Administration officials.
"We're dug in for the long haul," said one of the picketers, who declined to give his name. "We're learning Woodie Guthrie songs and how to play the guitar and stuff, but there's not a whole lot you can do in half an hour."
Republicans returned to work immediately after the contempt vote.
"Gosh, that was fun," said one of the strikers. "It gives you some insight into history. Especially the songs."
