I just wanted to take a very quick break from the bad news about a Supreme Court Justice shrugging off torture, the U.S. Senate OK'ing illegal spying without a warrant (and giving a get out of jail free card to those who committed it), dozens more civilians murdered in Iraq, and all of the horrible things that are being done with MY taxpayer money.
I just wanted to take a quick break from all of these atrocities to say that some good news does happen once in awhile; every so often, a little thing will happen that can brighten your day and bring a smile to your face, no matter how sickening every other bit of news may be.
For me, on this Valentine's Day, that tiny, insignificant, utterly trivial bit of positive news was this: My two-year-old son, who's been a bit bashful on the learning-to-talk front (though he's about 6 months ahead in most other developmental areas, according to those in the know), said "Daddy" to me for the first time today.
Better yet, he said it while I was reading a book about dinosaurs to him (well, a picture book, anyway).
Don't ask me why I'm writing a diary about it; I'm just a bit giddy about it, I guess.
That is all; carry on :)
(Update: Oh, in fairness to my wife, I should probably also note that he did start calling her "Mommy" for the first time about a week ago.)
