Update: Since I was frozen out of the comments section yesterday for some reason, I am trying again today.
"I'm vetted and tested!"
"No new scandals!"
"Obama has never had to endure the republican attack machine like I have!"
These are chief among Hillary Clinton's arguments for her candidacy.
She runs around talking about Tony Rezko and Exelon, both tempests in tea pots. She would like us to reject Obama because one of his campaign contributors owns the lot next door to his house. It's not even guilt by association. It's guilt by proximity. And then she makes a big stink about Exelon and a piece of legislation she co-sponsored. And we find out that her chief advisor, Mark Penn also works for Exelon.
After everything the Clinton's have been through, you would think they would decide not to do unto others what has been done unto them. But, no. They want to spread the misery. And yet, no one is more in need of a civil campaign, free of mudslinging than Hillary Clinton.
Follow me below the fold to see why...
Keep watching. Part 2 has her condemnation out of her own mouth.
It is possible that Clinton's former finance director is completely and entirely responsible for all fundraising irregularities associated with the Peter Paul fund raiser. My question is this...Does it matter? Yes, I know it should matter. But swiftboating seems to be impervious to facts. And on its face, this story has stronger legs than the swiftboat confection.
And there is the way in which this story smacks of preferential justice for the Clintons. This 'Scooter Libby' justice is exactly the same sort of thing we have been subjected to for the last seven years. Why in the name of all that is holy would we want to put ourselves through more of this; the lies, the obstruction of justice, gaming the justice system?
And you know what else occurred to me as I watched these videos? It will never end. Why are the Clintons always being scrutinized? Because their chief way of making an income post presidency comes from Bill's skills as a matchmaker between people who have business opportunities and people who have money to invest. This is not a bad thing in itself. But his informal way of doing business without paying heed to regulations that venture capital firms must adhere to and his practice of combining matchmaking with his foundation activities are a problem.
And the thing is, I believe there will be other incidences like this one. In fact, this case is not yet resolved. That is why, I think the Democrats need to declare a truce and refrain from airing dirty linens for the duration. Because this kind of thing can go on and on forever.
The Clintons live in a glass house. They need to put down their stones.
