Fear, so much of life is organized around fear! You get up in the morning to an alarm clock, set, out of fear of oversleeping. Brush your teeth, with that new electric toothbrush, because you're afraid of teeth decay or bad breathe. Then you jump in the shower, afraid of body odor, or just to help you out the door! If you're a woman, or a metro sexual, you put on make-up, afraid of not looking good enough! Drink a cup of coffee, afraid of not being awake and ready. Go to your closet to pick out an outfit, chosen by fear that the advertising media instilled, telling you if you want to fit in, don't be caught dead in that. Once you're in your car or waiting for a bus or subway, you allow the fear of traffic, overcrowding, to enter your thoughts.
Isn't it amazing how often our actions are controled by fear? In only the first hours of waking up, our consumer driven society has turned us into blithering idiots! How the weekly actions of the majority of the population, is organized by fear? We're controlled by fear in just our everyday routine lives, do we want to be controlled by fear from our leaders? After 9-11 we were told to go out and shop, shop, keep feeding that fear factor, buy a new alarm clock, deodorant, make-up, clothes, a latte, so I can protect you against terrorism!
I'm so tired of listening to President Bush go on and on about how he is going to protect us. What's he doing for the inner cities of this country, I do fear walking in the inner cities, more then becoming a victim of a terrorist attack. I do fear being shot by some crazed American, who easily can get access to an AK-47 or a rifle! I do fear becoming a statistic of cancer and not being able to afford the proper health care! So I would ask our President, just how he is going to protect me. We've done our part, since 9-11, we've gone out and shopped and shopped, so much so, we're now deep in debt, heading for a recession, if we're not already in it! What has he done, spent our shopping money on an unnecissary war and now expects us to give him access to our conversations on those new phones and computers we bought, because he told us to shop, shop, shop! I don't think so, I'm saying let's be weekend warriors, those that don't have to wake up to a corporate alarm clock, but wake up and reclaim our power. Let's be smart shoppers when it comes to electing our next president. Let's unite against fear, let's be courageous and say, no! No, you can't use fear as a tactic, to protect your ass and your corporate buddy's asses! The clocks ticking loudly for change!
