Rasmussen's daily Presidential tracking poll for Monday, February 18 shows Obama opening up a commanding lead over Clinton in the electability race. In recent weeks, the Obama and Clinton camps have increasingly focused on the question of which candidate stands the best chance of beating McCain in November. Rasmussen's answer seems unequivocal.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
- Obama 46 McCain 43
- Clinton 42 McCain 49
FAVORABLE (UNFAVORABLE)
- Obama 54 (43)
- McCain 51 (43)
- Clinton 45 (53)
While these numbers are unlikely to exert any influence in Wisconsin or Hawaii, they may well weigh on the minds of Texas and Ohio voters (assuming the trend holds). Unpledged superdelegates are undoubtedly paying attention.
