Senator Obama has proven himself to be a great candidate with appeal to a very broad base of the democratic party and to independents and new voters. At the same time, Senator Clinton has carved out a loyal base in the millions that is making our party look inevitable. People are streaming to the polls to catch the democratic wave early (and if this was Chicago I would say often). But you are reading this for the 10 reasons and probably can't believe I have ten up my sleeve, such as it is. So here goes.
- Senator Obama doesn't have the requisite number of delegates yet. Otherwise it really would be over.
- Senator Obama is looking great at the moment and this winning streak, if it holds, only makes him look better in the national election. If Senator Clinton turns it around she will be the comeback kid.
- Senator Clinton has gotten millions of votes and has many supporters that the party will need in the fall election. They need to be treated with respect either way. They will lead the charge if Hillary wins.
- Senator Clinton is giving Senator Obama great training for the kind of Tsunami that will be unleashed on him should he win our nomination. It is like spring training for a newbie and maybe it is best not to cut it short. They do keep score in spring training and his still needs to score enough to win.
- Senator Clinton has numerous policy positions that are attractive to democrats and independents alike (i.e. Universal health care and Social Security). They add to the discussion and may play well in the national contest. She makes a very good case in these areas.
- There will be lessons learned by our party internally however this ends up but I'm not sure what they are yet. There has to be a have a winner to be analyzed fully. They are more clear to some on this site than nationally.
- Senator Clinton has very good support in the next three large states to vote on March 4th. We need to see how that plays out.
- We are fair in how we treat our nominees. We will hear out each candidate and vote according to the rules. Whomever gets the most delegates wins. I do mean by the rules!
- The battle on our side is dominating the news and giving our party great press and moving us from the marginalized position the major media likes to put us in. The crowds look motivated for both candidates and less of the stereotype the major media would like to hype on us.
- I like a good horse race and I believe we have one until we cross the finish line.
There, I did come up with ten decent ones - let the arrows fly.
