Oh, this is absolutely hilarious. Or depressing. I'm not sure which.
You've likely heard of the spy satellite which is going to plummet to earth one of these days and potentially cause all sorts of problems for wherever it lands. The Bush folks want to shoot it down with a missile because, get this, it may cause environmental problems if it lands in the wrong place.
Well, the Chinese and Russians registered their concerns, with the Russians going so far as to suggest the Bushies were "trying to use the accident with its satellite to test its national anti-missile defense system's capability to destroy other countries' satellites."
Well, we better hope to hell this isn't a test of Star Wars or some anti-satellite missile capabilities, because apparently it just won't work in bad weather.
The Pentagon says bad weather in the north Pacific makes it unlikely that a Navy ship will launch a missile Wednesday in an attempt to shoot down a wayward U.S. spy satellite in space.
A Pentagon official who briefed reporters on technical aspects of the decision on when to make the shootdown attempt said high seas currently are an obstacle for the Navy ship that would fire the missile.
High seas. You know what that means? They can't accurately aim the missile because the waves are too big!
The Russian military satellite folks must be quaking in their boots.
From laughter.
