So now the Clinton campaign under the brilliant guidance of Mark "I get $4.4 million win or lose" Penn announced they will go after Obama on the question of not being ready to be Commander-in-Chief.

This is so stupid and disgusting on so many levels

First, it's stupid because how can Hillary Clinton actually think she's the most qualified of the 3 remaining candidates to be commander-in-chief?  Traveling to Bosnia with Sinbad and Sherly Crowe automatically makes you ready to lead the US military?

Second, how can any job ever really prepare you to lead one of the most powerful militaries in the history of the world?

Third, Penn & Co are basically just working for McCain and the Republicans now.  I guess Penn has to find some way to earn that big paycheck.  So why not help the Republicans now.

Fourth, didn't George H.W. Bush trot out this line against Bill Clinton in '92?  That he's not ready to be commander-in-chief.  That he lacks the leadership ability to lead the troops.  And that didn't work out too well for them did it?  It just smacks of desperation.  When in trouble, the entrenched candidate will always trot out the old 'he's not ready to be commander-in-chief' argument.  Puuuhhhhlease

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

walks her right back to Iraq.

I think it is a losing strategy.

Obama will answer : I'm the best to be C-in-C because of my judgement.  Let's take the Iraq war.  Explain again why you voted for it and why you still defend that vote?

he's going to have to answer the question against McCain. he might as well get some practice in, eh? Penn isn't working for the Republicans here, unless you actually believe they would never think to bring it up . . .

Because she says she is. It's always about her.
    It's becoming very, very sad.
I just hope, for her sake, that she doesn't disintegrate completely, it wouldn't be a pleasant spectacle.

is a managerial job. You listen to the arguments on an issue and make a decision. Most issues that need a decision don't even reach the "commander-in-chief." Being commander-in-chief is a managerial job, and requires that foremost and first capability of all managers: the ability to delegate.
I think that Barack Obama, by the evidence of how he has comported himself as a legislator and how he has run his campaign, has more than demonstrated his readiness and ability to be commander-in-chief.

    •  One of the criteria I use when assessing (0+ / 0-)

a candidate, is this: What kind of people does this person attract to his/her team and which people does this candidate select?  That speaks volumes about the judgement of the candidate and the kind of people that would likely make up an administration.  I think Obama has pulled together a great team and would be a President that would attract and appoint incredibly capable and patriotic people to work for and with him.

The people around Hillary unfortunately do not fill me with much confidence.

I think Obama would be an excellent Commander in Chief and I say that as an Army mom whose son will be in Iraq by summer.  I want him to have the best CinC possible and I am actively working for Obama.

Nobody in the country accepts that the 7 year Commander in Chief is qualified, so clearly experience isn't a prerequisite. Comes down to judgement and she keeps showing that hers isn't great.

  •  What a joke (0+ / 0-)

Does Hillary Clinton think that she's going to be able to make the readiness argument against John "23 years in the military and 26 years in congress" McCain?  Seriously, how is that going to work?

  •  All Obama has to do (0+ / 0-)

is air a commercial showing her complaining about "the boys ganging up on her", and show her crying. Then you just ask if you think this person is ready to be Co0mmander-in-Chief. Case closed.

she still has some fight in her. And I personally think Obama needs to be challenged on this and much, much more. He and his wife have made two amateur gaffes in the last three days, and I am in no way convinced he's ready. I know that's an unpopular opinion around here, but be that as it may, it is my opinion, and I stand by it.

Obama knows how to fight against McCain. He does it every time he does his stump: tie McCain to Bush's policies.

How credible is McCain on national security when he has supported Bush's bullshit? Flip-flopped on torture, said Iraq was a good idea, said there will be more wars, etc.

Hillary's campaign needs to stop building McCain up. How does this strategy work? You somehow tear down Obama by building McCain up, win the nomination and then go after McCain in general... how?

So scared of being called "weak" on national security, she'll happily parrot the GOP line.  That is why the Democrats caved in fall 2002, that's why they rallied around the Iraq invasion in the spring, and that's why they've kept funding the damn thing even though it never had a damn thing to do with terrorism.

Sorry, after 6 years of this crap, we don't need more of it.
