Unless the the HRC completes the 100 yard hail mary pass, this is over. The post-mortems are starting to pop up, and this one on the Huffington Post disgusts me:
Myers: What "Professionals" Came Up With Clinton's Plan?
This quote from Dee Dee Myers made be ill:
Gender, however, has proved as much a hindrance as help to Hillary, said Dee Dee Myers, the former Clinton administration press secretary. And following losses to Obama in the last ten primaries, she adds, the former first lady will have a "very difficult" time in turning her electoral fortunes around, in part because of her sex.
As an Obama guy, I respect HRC. However, she didn't lose because of gender. She lost because of the idiots she surrounded herself with (bad sentence, but I am pissed, so stay with me). Penn, Ickes, et al. screw up the campaign every step of the way. The strategy from day one was Rudy-esque. In January 2007 Clinton was the name brand for the party, and her campaign team absolutely screwed the pooch.
Clinton is strong candidate by any measure, and blaming her lose on gender and not on the clowns that lead the fiasco is insulting. She has proved that a strong woman candidate is viable for the POTUS. However, that woman better have better handlers than Clinton.
Also, the people that are the most at risk if Clinton doesn't do well in Texas and Ohio are the consultants. HRC loses in Ohio and/or Texas, but goes at it with a strong message and a positive candidate, she will come out stronger and more powerful. However, when Penn and co. try to sell their services to other candidates, this campaign won't help them secure a 7 figure consulting contract.
Enough ramblings, and here is the money line I am trying to get to:
Hillary, although she didn't win, broke the ceiling. More people voted for this woman for the President of the United States by a wide margin than other GOP candidate. She got more votes than the Ken doll, war hero, or preacher man. Gender wasn't the problem.
