I am a 17 year old high school student living in Asheville, NC. I am overly thrilled that this year is the chance to dethrone Liddy Dole and be one step closer to a 'bluer' North Carolina. I am supporting Jim Neal for U.S. Senate for many reasons which include: staying true to liberal ideals, rallying the youth, his relative youth, and his self-confidence. Below is a letter that I wrote to my local newspaper in Ashe-vegas:
North Carolina Progressives have awesome opportunities this year to replace centrist, corporate-owned, DLC Democratic candidates with young, fresh, and liberal-minded candidates. With all the hype and media frenzy surrounding the presidential race, it's easy to forget that North Carolina has another very important election to participate in on May 6th. On May 6th, North Carolina Democrats will go to their voting locations to vote for whom they think should be the Democratic candidate for the United States Senate. This is an extremely important election as this candidate will (hopefully) defeat the current North Carolina Senator - Madame Elizabeth Dole. As a progressive-minded individual who is supporting Barack Obama for President, I am also proud to support Jim Neal for U.S. Senate. Check out this extraordinary candidate at: jimnealforsenate.com. Progressives - Let's finally restore this country back to a government "for the people, by the people".
NOW IS THE TIME TO HELP WITH JIM NEAL'S CANDIDACY:
*Visit his website
*DONATE
(Even if you do not live in North Carolina, no one can shame away from helping out the Democratic Party take back the Senate)
*VOLUNTEER
This man could be the future of the NC-Democratic Party, a leader in the U.S. Senate, the one that defeats Liddy Dole, and an EXTRA Democratic Seat in the Senate come 2008!
(UPDATE) Oh, by the way, if you aren't convinced about the Obama parallels in this Senate Race, look at a recent quote from Jim Neal:
"We've had enough of the politics of division, this is a year about changing the status quo."
