It's almost 3:00PM ET and I've gotten tired of dueling 3:00AM ads and NAFTA bombs from Hillary and Barack. Lest we all forget we STILL have a war in Iraq entering year 6!!!
I'm tired of Hillary and Barack. I was not expecting Super Tuesday II today as I continue to worry about the economy and costs of the was in Iraq.
- The war in Iraq is not over. The "surge" has indeed brought some improvement in Baghdad but not in the rest of country.
- The only REAL SURGE that worked are the 80,000 Sunnis/Awakening Councils/militias the US employed. Unfortunately, they're walking away now because we forgot to pay them... oppsss!!!
- IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID!!! But people forget the reason for the the recession is the Iraq war itself!!! The United States has borrowed close to 1/2 TRILLION to finance the war. This foreign debt from China, India and yes... Russia and Brazil devalues the dollar. Coupled with Greenspan and Bush's ownership society and ultra low interest rates, we have the biggest mortgage meltdown crisis in history.
- Congress thinks we forgot about the war and our personal freedoms so they are sneaking the FISA (Protect America Act... How come the right-wingers have cool names for their bills???) bill in AGAIN in secret committee. Work to fire the Republicans in Democrats' clothing.
- BE VISIBLE... BE LOUD... BE SEEN... On March 19, there are over 300 local events. Go to: http://events.unitedforpeace.org/...
Write a letter to congress. I know... it's your 500th letter but the letter and email is still our most basic tool of protest.
Better still, come to Washington DC and scream at congress or your local congressperson or senator's office. Here are some of events: http://events.unitedforpeace.org/...
Make a poster! Marking pens and butcher paper still works!!!
Buy a tshirt, button or sticker. On March 19, if your work allows, wear an anti-war shirt, button or put a sticker in your car.
- Tired as I am of the Barack/Hillary battle. I am happy with either one of them. They can battle it out like grownups. They'll sort themselves out.
- Continue to oppose and attack John McCain's record of supporting George Bush and his Iraq and failed economic policies. It is up to us to continue the attack. MAKE NO MISTAKE... John McCain is the enemy of the progressive movement. McCain is Bush 3.0!!! If we want more war, more debt, more jobs to India, more Chinese crap... vote for the septuagenarian ideals of McCain. If the primaries move beyond Super Tuesday II, let Barack & Hillary duke it out and let the progressive movement focus on McCain. We cannot give him room to define himself, Barack, Hillary or the Democratic Party.
- Politics is local... Support and volunteer for your local progressive congressperson! We all know what a spineless, ineffective congress is worth... NOTHING!!!
- DONATE... TIME, MONEY, BLOGGING ENERGY, PHONE CALLS TO TALK SHOWS, LETTERS TO EDITORS, MAKE A STICKER, WEAR A SHIRT, GET A TATTOO, etc... Be visible, be very visible. Be loud, be very loud. "Blessed are the meek" does not work in politics.
- Vote!!!
