I strongly believe Obama will ultimately end up with the most delegates, both pledged and super, and will be the nominee. Up until now I thought Hillary would bring too much baggage to be offered the VP slot. I've changed my mind.
What we are seeing is 2 very different but strong Democratic party constituencies. Obama carries blacks, affluent whites, and young people. Clinton carries older women, blue collar whites, and latinos. McCain can pick up the older and blue collar vote rather than Obama. I think it really helps Obama to put her on the ticket.
Plus, Obama doesnt like to do negative campaigning. He wants to stay positive. Thats what you have the VP for. As an attack dog. And what better attacker than Hillary (and Bill)? It will clean up all the damage she is doing in the primaries.
Sure, they'll have video of Hillary claiming Obama has just a speech in 2002 while she and McCain have lifetimes of experience. But she can then feriocously attack McCain as being a warmonger and his experience has made him ready to invade Iran and who knows where else.
And the women will come out in droves to elect the first female VP. And noone has to worry about Bill being co-president.
Sure it will rally some more conservatives against the democratic ticket if Hillary is the VP, but they were going to rally against a "Muslim" candidate anyway.
Overall I think she brings more plusses than minuses.
And the sooner the Superdelagates realize this is the only deal that will work, the sooner we can end attacks on each other and focus our attention on defeating McCain avoiding another 4 years of Bush policies.
