It'll take another Clinton to push the party over a cliff.
Don't get me wrong. I voted for Bill twice. I bought the Rolling Stone Magazine with him on the cover. I still have it in plastic. I watched him blush on MTV, I watched him play sax on Arsenio Hall. I saw him motivate new voters like no-one. I was one of those voters.
I know how much the Right hated him. I know how much money they spent to impeach him. I know they dragged Hillary over the coals. But with all of that going against them, The majority of us loved Bill. We stood by him. We went to bat for him. We defended his ideals and his work for this country. And though we know he got a raw deal on Lewinsky, the fact remains...He had three choices as to were to put his dick...
1) Keep it in his pants
2) Keep it in his hand
3) Keep it in his wife
And soooooooooooo...
He decided to put it in a 22 year old intern in the White House. Hmmm, how'd that work out for the party? He turned the highest office in our land into a Motel 6. He thought nothing about the party, those who supported him, those who believed in him or how the entire nation would be effected. He took the stand and lied to all of us and was impeached.
Now I'm no prude or Holy-than-thou idealist, but it seems to me bad judgment in this case is what created most of the problems for the Dems over the past eight years. Bill's bad judgment is what pushed me out of the party and to move over and register as an Independent. I simply didn't feel like defending him anymore.
And so we have Clinton 2. Someone who has blatantly shown her willingness to put self over party, country, ideals, and basic decency. There's no change here. There's no hope here. There's just a desperate attempt to salvage the legacy and legitimacy of the Clinton 1 reign.
She allows confusion of Obama's faith, his patriotism, experience, judgment and electability while denying involvement. She shills for McCain, and thanks Karl Rove on Fox News.
You can hit me with any of Hill's talking points, but to me it's empty rhetoric. This election has and always been about her and her disgraced husband's place in history. It's damage control at the expense of our votes. You think this is about health care, the war, your kids, jobs, the future of this county? OK, sure it is.
Obama's not perfect. But he did manage to keep it civil. She knows what worked for the Republican slime machine will work for her and she doesn't care if the party is sacrificed to save face. Go ahead and vote for her. Vote to save the Clinton legacy. And when they're swearing in John McCain, don't look for Mark Penn or Ralph Nader to point the finger of blame. Go look in the mirror.
