The MSM is getting on my nerves!
This is the first diary I have ever written here on KOS. I have added comment or 2 to other people's diaries before, but I have to get this off my chest!
Last night, while watching Election results on MSNBC, I was completely appalled by many different things:
(Grievances under the fold)
- Why do people on the panels (Starting with Tweety as the WORST offender) repeat talking points of the campaigns (last night Hillary's campaign) and act as though all of them are factual?
Case in point...if Barack did not win all 4 races, it is obvious that Democrats may be rethinking his candidacy?
Where do I begin with this? Oh yes, just weeks ago, Tweety was taken down for pretty much browbeating Hillary at every turn and now he is her mouth piece? What happened to impartiality? I realize that he got in trouble and had to "apologize" to her so she would debate on the channel again, but wouldn't it be better not say anything offensive at all about anyone, so you would be considered impartial?
- When showing exit polls and a particular trend that is occurring seems to be somewhat unpleasant, ignoring it doesn't mean we don't notice it.
Norah O'Donnell, who I like most of the time, seems to lack skills of being able to present controversial analysis, so then she plainly ignores facts. She stated that Ohio went for Hillary partially because a large part of the electorate voted on race. Not even a mention of this by her or her esteemed colleagues.
Now I know that it is controversial to discuss racism, but let's be real. Racism is bound to come into play whether you ignore it or not. I think calling racism out to the public could only help this be a more
fair race, while ignoring it, excuses the behavior. They don't seem to have problems constantly reminding people the Barack is not a Muslim, as if Religious bigotry towards Muslims is less offensive.
- Having too may partisan hacks as commentators.
This is both on the left and right. I personally do not consider people with an agenda, the best people to analyze anything. It is like being a restaurant owner and having the chef review the food. I know that they have some pretty competent people on their panel at times. Chuck Todd is pretty good when he is sticking to the numbers game alone. Ask him to discuss the latest vitriol by the campaigns and he can spin pretty well.
Most people tune in to the cable news to get more information, not more attacks and thinly-veiled promotions for their candidate of choice.
I know this probably will not change. I know I should stop watching the MSM except for entertainment purposes. It's just that, like the cockeyed optimist that I am, I hope that someday, journalism will return to its former glory....the place where people go to get informed without being told what to believe.
