Complaints about how there are too many candidate diaries on Daily Kos.
Ladies and gentlemen, in case you have not noticed, the biggest story in politics is the Clinton v. Obama nomination contest. Indeed, this contest is the most epic and hard fought presidential nominating contest in all our lives, if not in the entire modern history of the Democratic Party. It most definitely is the most contested primary election since the advent of primary elections in the 1950's. This is a political blog. To expect less discussion about the race and less discussion about the candidates is extremely naive.
I understand if you want to talk about other political issues, like FISA and other issues before Congress. Indeed, you may want to talk about other state and local races.
Well, there is nothing stopping you. Yes, it may get less attention now during the Primary Wars than it would otherwise, but that is just the reality of the situation. It does not those of us who are interested and invested in this contest are not lesser people because of it. It is just that, at this particular moment in time, our attention is elsewhere. So if you want to post a diary about another un-primary election issue, please do so. But stop complaining about the plethora of candidate diaries, especially when you could be posting about the issue you want to talk about instead of complaining that we are not talking about the issue you want to talk about.
I would also like to see less process complaints from Clinton supporters about our criticisms of their candidate. Yes, Daily Kos is populated by many people who do not support Hillary Clinton and who indeed are favorable to Obama. And yes, according to the makeup of our community, there are going to be more pro-Obama diaries and anti-Clinton diaries as a result. That is just the reality of the situation, a reality that is mirrored in exactly the opposite way at other political blogs like MyDD and Talk Left where Clinton supporters and their view points predominate. I find it interesting that the same people who complain about the lack of balance here do not do so there. For if they wanted to be fair, they would do so.
So Clinton supporters, do not waste your or our time in complaining about criticisms being made against Clinton, and use your time here in answering the criticisms substantively. If you cannot do that, and instead insist upon talking about how horrible you think Daily Kos has become, then you have to ask yourself why you waste your time here at such a horrible site. And you also have to ask yourself whether you are doing your candidate a disservice by not substantively defending her. You never know, you may in fact convince us that a criticism of Clinton is in fact wrong.
Sorry if I sound cranky, but that is a pet peeve of mine. Plus, I just busted up my leg after falling flat on my face earlier this evening. Don't worry, Mom (she reads my diaries), I didn't break anything. Just nasty scraps and bruises.
