So let me see if I have this whole "3AM"/"Threshold" thing down.
The argument is that on the occasions where Hillary Clinton was sleeping with her husband the President (which presumably would have been most, if not all, of his Presidency, right?) and he would happen to get a call at 3AM about some big crisis, she would do what? Listen in? Really?
Can we perhaps get some clarification of what those moments were like? I mean, did Hillary have a phone by her bed (you know, in the same bedroom as the President) that she would use to listen in on the President's emergency calls? Really?
So if you were the situation officer at 3AM, and you called the President, were you aware that the President's wife was listening in?
Because I have to say, I've seen a lot of episodes of "The West Wing," and I don't recall ever seeing a scene where Stockard Channing picked up the bedroom phone and covered the mouthpiece so that Leo wouldn't know she was helping Jed make decisions about whether or not to bomb Qumar.
What must these "listen-ins" have been like for Hillary? Did she sort of snicker to Bill like, "Ha ha, this'll be great, they won't know I'm listening in, but I'm like totally getting all this real world experience in case, you know, I might ever decide to run for President."
I mean, my God, for her to have crossed this imaginary threshold, she must've listened to as many of his phone calls as the NSA. She's like a human FISA bill. Maybe if this whole running-for-president thing doesn't work out, she can get a job at AT&T tapping my iPhone.
And this whole argument assumes, of course, that Hillary would have been with the President enough at 3AM to have absorbed such important real world experience through her eavesdropping on his calls. I mean, because you know, he would have been travelling a lot. So that would mean that they couldn't share the same bedroom (and phone) as much as they would like. You know, like the scene in "Independence Day," where Bill Pullman and Mary McDonnell are on opposites sides of the country when the aliens attack. (As a side note, that would've been one effing great call to eavesdrop on! Talk about a threshold, baby! That crisis was intergalactic!)
So anyway, Hillary, I sure would like to know how many of these bedtime calls you listened to. It would kind of help me determine what the meaning of threshold is.
