Lead this a.m. was Samantha Power calling Hillary Clinton a monster. Fair enough, I guess. They mentioned she "tried to take it back but it was too late." Meaning, you can't say "off the record" after a sentence, only before.
Then, abject apologies from Power and Obama flash on the screen.
Then, Andrea Mitchell clucks about Obama campaign's troubles, flashing picture of Samantha Power's "friend" Austan Goolsbee -- but neglects to mention any of the clarifying information since last week, leaving the the swiftboating of Barack Obama completely intact.
Then, they go on to quote David Brooks' column today as the. authoritative. comment. on where this is headed:
As the trench warfare stretches on through the spring, the excitement of Obama-mania will seem like a distant, childish mirage. People will wonder if Obama ever believed any of that stuff himself. And even if he goes on to win the nomination, he won’t represent anything new. He’ll just be a one-term senator running for president.
And then, they bring Tweety on. Tweety praises the Clintons as "inside fighters," pointing out the meeting taking place in Philadelphia today with party leaders "who get out the vote." The Clinton campaign is sending Bill. The Obama campaign is sending "freshman Congressman Patrick Murphy." Tweety's verdict is that PA could be all wrapped up today, or words ot that effect.
Yep. Could be. And Today's doing its part.
