It’s fairly established that caucus states matter little to the Clintons. You matter even less if you are a red state with a caucus. So, if I'm an uncommitted superdelegate from a boutique state exactly how long do I wait before I tell the Clintons to go pound sand? I can’t imagine being a super and listening to the Clintons as they marginalize the delegate selection process in blue states, red states and purple states alike.
How about if I am a committed Clinton super from a boutique state? How do I explain my vote to the constituents in my state? Do I contemplate switching to Obama if the insults continue? Am I already questioning what kind of campaign will be run in my state during the GE, and the impact on down ticket races?
So what happens if Clinton somehow, someway strong arms the supers and wins the nomination (not likely but from what we’ve seen certainly not outside the realm of possibility)? She needs volunteers and cash. I live in Minnesota, a state that Dems need to win. I’ve worked on presidential, US senatorial and house reps, state senate and house reps campaigns. We work our tails off here to turn out the vote and regularly have very high voter turnout. But unfortunately for Clinton, I’m in one of those aforementioned boutique states that doesn’t need a president – just a feeling. Well, I don’t really need a feeling, I’ve already got one – that feeling is that if the phone starts ringing and it says Hillary for President on my caller ID, I’m not answering. I’ve got a feeling that if I get e-mails asking for money it will be too late because you’ve already been added to my "blocked senders" list. I’ve got a feeling that if someone knocks on my door here in NE Mpls, a working class neighborhood that had record turnout at the precinct caucus this year, I’m going to politely ask them to leave. Remember what you said, I don’t really need a president.
I am not a Hillary hater. I have defended her on numerous occasions when people railed on her. I was of firm belief that if she was the nominee it would still be a better choice than what we’ve been dealing with for the past 7+ years. The long and short of is, the Clintons have insulted and denigrated the citizens of numerous states. The new people brought into the electoral process this election cycle aren’t going to work for them, nor are they going to give their hard earned cash to someone who apparently has little use for them. Party activists like me will not be turning out in droves to canvas our precincts for them. We will give our money to state and local races as necessary because her name at the top of the ticket isn’t going to help them much. My condolences to all you red-staters, you will have a tough road to hoe.
Yes, I will likely vote in the GE, because I still have some level of certainty that HRC won’t completely hose us on judicial nominees, but no Hillary, I will not work for you or donate to your campaign. If I, a diehard DFLer and part of your demographic (a white woman) won’t work for and donate to your campaign, who will?
