I am a dyed in the Blue Illinois Democrat. I'm also a vet who has been there, done that and bought the T-shirt...Blackhorse (11th. Armored Cavalry Regiment...Cambodian border...1969.
I am not a pacifist, but I do object to unnecessary war such as our invasion of Iraq with all of my heart and soul. Having said that, I supported the necessary post 9-11 invasion of Afghanistan.
Bottom line for me will always be that Pres. Bush lied us into a war in Iraq that never needed to be fought while causing us to divert our efforts from a necessary war in Afghanistan. Bush lied and our soldiers died in a war that never needed to be fought in Iraq. If not criminal, the invasion of Iraq was at best optional and as history will show, unnecessary.
I hope that all who read my intro understand that I will never support unnecesary war.
We have lost almost 4000 of our brave sons and daughters in the military in an unnecessary war in Iraq. We have seen about 40,000 of our brave sons and daughters wounded...a third of whom with wounds so severe that they will never live even the semblence of a normal life. We have also killed approximately 100,000 Iraqi nationals whose only crime was to have had the misfortune to have been born in Iraq. May God bless our brave sons and daughters in the military and may God damn those chickenhawks in the White House who committed them to a war that never needed to be fought in Iraq.
