Hearing the story about Governor Spitzer sparked something in my memory from 2004.
I remember reading an article somewhere about how "escorts" are being flown into New York because of the increased demand as a result of the GOP National Convenion. I did a google search and found the article here (I love the internet).
At the time, in the few places it was mentioned it was a cute or joking article about political hypocrisy, but died very quickly. As far as I'm concerned, this goes beyond the difference between the way Gov. Spitzer is being treated and Senator Vitter or the rest of the GOP were treated.
In Washington, DC, conventional wisdom suggests never get caught with a dead girl or a live boy. I guess ultimately, this applies to Vitter, but does not extend to Albany.
Why are we, as Democrats, held to a higher standard? (Clearly, this is a partially rhetorical question, but it pisses me off)
On a separate note, if the NY GOP members of the General Assembly file articles of impeachment, then the Democratic Congressman from New York, have a responsibility of doing the same for Senator Vitter. Make them defend it.
Just my opinion.
