Hillary Clinton could not beat Obama in the actual electoral competition.
No matter how much she tweaked her message or made staff adjustments, her
brand simply was not selling. I watched with growing alarm as a new strategy
emerged to damage the Obama brand, enough that he would be unelectable, and
she would be the default, remaining option of superdelegates hoping to win
in November. But now they have played the race card, from the bottom of the
deck, and for me, that's it. I will not, under any circumstances, support or
vote for Hillary Clinton as the Democratic candidate for President.
There are things that matter more than "winning." I am a well off middle aged white man. I am a father and a major party donor. I fervently want a better world for my children and the last eight years have been, personally, very hard to endure. This site has provided much hope and solace during the long dark years of the Bush administration, and I respect all those who have argued, reasonably, that the position I am taking is destructive, childish, shortsighted, etc. Unfortunately, it's no longer even debatable to me, it's a position I have been forced into.
I could have voted for HRC in November. Or January. She wasn't my favorite, but hey, the Clinton years were good to me, she would be a good manager, her heart was in the right place. I was wrong. The Clinton's are cynical, mean and selfish people. They will do or say anything, destroy anyone, for power. And now, they have crossed the line, my line. Ferraro may have been the messenger, but the message came from HRC headquarters and it was this: Barack Obama needs to be put back in his place, reminded, that, despite the fancy degrees, the high offices, the lofty speechifying, he's still just a ni**er and will always be just a ni**er. They hardly even dressed it up. They didn't even deny it.
And so for me, that's it. I am too old to "settle" anymore. I won't betray my bothers and sisters who dream of a vibrant, modern multiracial society like I do. I won't support, and will actively oppose, with my money, a lot of it, HRC's election should she be nominated. Superdelegates take note.
