This is just a short little diary about the dead soldiers nobody seems to care about anymore. I read this article tonite that just surprised, saddened and scared me.
Public awareness of the number of American military fatalities in Iraq has declined sharply since last August. Today, just 28% of adults are able to say that approximately 4,000 Americans have died in the Iraq war. As of March 10, the Department of Defense had confirmed the deaths of 3,974 U.S. military personnel in Iraq.
(Note: the number of U.S. deaths confirmed by the Department of Defense is 3,974. Thirteen U.S. deaths are pending confirmation, for a total of 3,987).
It surprised me that the coverage has fallen off so much, it saddened me that so few people knew the true cost of this war, and it scared me that we as a public could become so apathetic to this war.
So, what to do?
I think we need to start right now a letter writing, email sending, phone call making campaign to all of the major tradmed voices and tell them to put the 4000th soldier who has lost his/her life front and center for the public to see and for the administration and congress to explain. Unfrotunately, I am not very web savy. My surfing amounts to here, wiki, a few other blogs and a lot of sports pages. Oh yeah, and education sites, gotta love 'em. So, I need some help. Where can I find a list of contacts for like the major (entertainment)newspapers? Can someone add some links in the comments. I am sick of the tradmed sweeping the crimes of this administration under the rug, right under our noses.
Sorry if this seems pretentious, but I'm pissed. Good nite.
And I suck at tags.
