Every day, I read skim over countless blog posts. Obviously, the majority have to do with the Democratic Primaries because I, like so many others, have become obsessed with following every little twist and turn in the campaign.
I can't recall how many times I've seen a delusional Clinton supporter proclaim, "This is the beginning of the end for Obama!!" Are you all that moronic? Pray to whatever you find holy that nothing causes Obama's downfall because that will be the day the Democratic Party crumbles.
The latest supposed candidacy-crusher is Obama's connection to his pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
First of all, how many times will this same argument be recycled and repackaged? It has yet to kick off Obama's downfall; and after so many attempts, it's unlikely that it will. Seeing as nothing new can be found on Obama, maybe it's time to settle down and call it a day. The fact that a politicians scandalous associations are getting so dreadfully repetitive is saying something... there should never be a lack of saucy material to weave into new character assaults.
What worried me the most about all this is that so many of Clinton's supporters are still so hopeful that some bit of information will fall out of the sky and crush Obama right through the podium of one of his massive rallies. I wonder how they think this could be a good thing. If Obama falls, the Democratic party falls. Clinton has already smeared herself into such a running national joke that Obama is really the only candidate that has maintained his posture. At this point, Clinton won't gain anything by tearing down Obama; all she could hope for is to eek out a victory.
This DOES NOT give her a boost. She'll still be a sad joke to most of the Democratic Party; not exactly the image needed to get much turnout.
If Clinton can somehow redeem her image to the point of conquering Obama so significantly in all remaining contests that she pulls ahead, fine (not gonna happen, but that's beside the point). I would even vote for her.
If she finds victory, however, by finally stumbling across some bit of damning history that is so horrific it causes Obama to burst into flames before our eyes, say goodnight to the Democrats. She'll maniacally run up to the podium, screaming victory amid other incomprehensible yelps and hollers, and our tattered party will slip into the shame of losing what we all thought would be the easiest victory in America's history.
