To whom it may concern,
When I or any one of countless Americans give money, clothing, food, etc. to a worthy cause we enjoy one of the privileges of living in this fine nation. We have the luxury of having more than we need or the ability to sacrifice what we have for a cause we believe in.
The rest after the break.
Merriam Webster's Dictionary defines "donate" as such: 'to make a gift of; especially : to contribute to a public or charitable cause'.
I use this definition because it is the word that describes you. You are a "donor."
You have found what you believed to be a worthy cause and donated or "gifted" your money and perhaps even your time and effort. You were not paying for services rendered nor entering into a contract to secure rights, privileges, goods, or the like. To think so, diminishes not only the act of giving but also the cause you feel worthy.
You were not paying for you vote, you were giving to a party which I'd hope you happen to agree with on some level. I know you feel wronged because you voted in a primary you feel isn't getting it's just due. The problem with that is that your state disobeyed the rules. The party set guidelines for their primary system and your state chose not to follow those guidelines. The party said they would punish your state, which they did.
Please make no mistake that this is not anyone's fault except for the people of the state of Florida. Your state legislature broke the rules and sadly now you must suffer the consequences. If you are unhappy with the decisions of your legislature or your governor please take that up with them, not the national party who has done nothing other than to keep their word on what would result should a state break the rules.
And to those who would say that they didn't know about the warnings, consequences, or basis for the decision to move the primary ahead of Super Tuesday, I must tell you the lesson my father made clear to me from day one, that ignorance is no excuse.
Thanks for your time.
Edit: Changed the title to reflect that this is not an open letter to all HRC Donors.
